General FAQs

Retirement advisors create a clear strategy to manage your money and help you achieve your life goals. It brings together key areas like investing, retirement planning, tax planning, and estate planning to build a comprehensive roadmap for your future. With a personalized plan, you can make confident financial decisions and stay on track as your life and priorities evolve.

Knowing whether you are ready to retire is about clarity, not age. You may be approaching readiness when you understand how income sources – such as Social Security, pensions, and investments – will replace your paycheck and support your lifestyle long term. True readiness also means planning for healthcare costs, taxes, inflation, and market volatility, with a clear strategy for claiming benefits. Most importantly, your plan should be stress-tested across different scenarios and aligned with your goals.

While there’s a lot of crossover, and the two titles may be used interchangeably, a retirement advisor typically focuses on the transition into retirement and the years that follow, helping clients make decisions about income strategies, including Social Security timing, pension options, and withdrawal planning. A financial planner takes a broader, lifelong approach – coordinating investments, tax planning, retirement savings, estate planning, risk management, and cash-flow decisions across every stage of life.

At a minimum, your retirement plan should be reviewed annually to ensure it remains aligned with your goals, market conditions, and tax rules. You should also revisit your plan whenever there is a major life or financial change, such as retirement, a job change, marriage, divorce, the sale of a business, or significant market volatility. Regular reviews allow adjustments to income strategies, investment risk, and withdrawal plans, helping ensure your retirement stays on track as your life and priorities evolve.

Pricing & Contracts

We are a fee-only, fiduciary financial advisor, which means we charge a small percentage of the assets we manage, though that fee covers not just investment management, but holistic financial planning, including tax and estate planning, retirement planning, and other comprehensive guidance to secure and enhance your wealth.
We do not typically build one-time financial plans for a flat or hourly fee.

This depends on your goals and overall financial situation. Some people become clients because they know that in the future their financial situation will become more complex via stock options or an inheritance, while others have saved well and are ready to have their money work harder for them right now. Generally, we prefer clients have at least $1 million in investible assets, but there are numerous co-factors and considerations.
